The Solution

Zero&One developed a full cloud migration and optimization solution for Zonevoice. The foundational step involved establishing a management account and setting up AWS Control Tower with a Landing Zone, ensuring a structured and secure cloud environment. This setup included creating necessary AWS accounts and their respective VPCs, tailored for Zonevoice's specific operational needs.

For the migration phase, we employed AWS Application Migration Service (MGN) for applications and servers, alongside AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) for databases. This strategic approach enabled a seamless transition of Zonevoice's infrastructure to AWS. MGN facilitated a swift "lift and shift" migration, allowing Zonevoice's applications to move to AWS with minimal downtime and no modifications required, preserving the application's integrity and source service performance. Meanwhile, DMS ensured a smooth, homogenous migration of the SQL database to Amazon RDS SQL, maintaining the operational continuity of all applications without any disruption. A site-to-site VPN was established between Zonevoice's data center and the AWS network account, securing the traffic flow during and after the migration process. This connectivity solution not only safeguarded data integrity but also maintained operational resilience throughout the transition. Post-migration, our focus shifted towards optimization and monitoring. Leveraging Datadog (Monitoring Solution), integrated with AWS Compute Optimizer, we provided Zonevoice with precise recommendations for EC2 instances, based on comprehensive analysis of CPU, memory, EBS, and network usage.

This integration not only optimized resource utilization but also enhanced the overall performance and cost-efficiency of Zonevoice's AWS environment. For Zonevoice's panel application, we adopted Amazon EKS best practices to facilitate their container-based modernization efforts. This approach empowered Zonevoice to capitalize on the benefits of containerization, including improved scalability, reliability, and deployment velocity, further driving their success in the cloud.
