Executive Summary

Multibank Group (MBG), a global financial institution, partnered with Zero&One to modernize and secure their digital infrastructure through a comprehensive AWS migration and managed services engagement. The goal was not only to transition critical workloads to the cloud, but to do so in a way that aligned with high standards of operational excellence, security, compliance, and sovereignty. Zero&On's team led MBG's cloud journey across three distinct projects: Control Tower setup, Multibank Technologica deployment, and MultibankFX migration. Through AWS native services including AWS Control Tower, IAM, CloudTrail, and GuardDuty, we designed and implemented a robust multi-account structure with centralized identity management, automated guardrails, and full visibility across the environment.
Through continuous engagement, Zero&One enabled MBG to operate within a well-architected, secure, and cost-optimized AWS framework, and maintaining strict control over infrastructure and data flow. The solution emphasized infrastructure isolation, granular access control, proactive monitoring, and the use of customer-managed security protocols. Today, MBG operates within an environment that offers high availability, performance efficiency, and improved operational agility — while also meeting internal compliance objectives and external audit expectations. This project exemplifies our commitment to helping customers embrace cloud transformation while maintaining control and sovereignty over their digital assets.

Customer Challenge

Multibank Group faced the need to modernize their legacy infrastructure while maintaining strict control over security, performance, and operational workflows. As a financial institution operating across multiple regions, MBG had to ensure that its cloud migration aligned with regulatory expectations around data management, access control, and workload isolation.
Their internal IT environments were fragmented and lacked the visibility, scalability, and governance required to support future innovation. Existing systems offered limited resilience, insufficient monitoring capabilities, and no centralized control, which increased the operational burden on their internal teams.
Additionally, MBG required a structured approach to manage multiple business units securely within AWS, ensure compliance across workloads, and migrate business-critical systems such as MultibankFX and Technologica with zero disruption. The transition needed to guarantee uninterrupted service, tightly controlled access, continuous performance monitoring, and support for future optimization — all while reducing operational risk and ensuring alignment with AWS best practices.

Why Zero&One and AWS

Zero&One brought certified AWS expertise, a proven track record across the MENA region, and a deep understanding of cloud compliance and security. As an AWS Advanced Consulting Partner, our team combined technical excellence with regional experience to deliver a secure, scalable, and well-architected solution tailored to MBG's needs.
AWS provided the foundation for this transformation — offering native services for governance, monitoring, access control, and cost optimization — enabling MBG to operate with confidence, flexibility, and full control over their infrastructure.

The Solution

Zero&One implemented a comprehensive AWS-based solution for Multibank Group across three main projects: AWS Control Tower, Multibank Technologica, and MultibankFX. The solution was built on a secure, multi-account structure designed to enhance governance, security, and operational control. The journey began with deploying AWS Control Tower, which established a foundational landing zone using AWS Organizations, centralized IAM, and enforced guardrails. This setup ensured that MBG's environment adhered to security and compliance standards from day one, enabling federated identity access, centralized logging, and real-time auditing via AWS Config and CloudTrail.
Next, workloads from both Technologica and FX divisions were migrated using a mix of rehost and replatform strategies. Zero&One set up secure VPC architectures with private subnets, transit gateways, and VPN access. IAM roles followed least privilege principles, while Security Groups, NACLs, and VPC Flow Logs provided tight traffic control and observability. For security and resilience, the solution integrated AWS Shield, WAF, GuardDuty, and Security Hub, offering protection against DDoS attacks, common web exploits, and unauthorized activities.
Monitoring was achieved using Datadog, enabling deep insights into system behavior, performance metrics, and alerts through machine learning-powered dashboards. On the DevOps side, the environment was automated using CloudFormation, CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, and CodePipeline, ensuring reliable, repeatable deployments. Optimization was a continuous effort — using pricing models like RIs and Savings Plans, backed by cost insights from CloudCheckr.
The result was a secure, compliant, and scalable infrastructure that empowered MBG with centralized control, operational autonomy, and readiness for future innovation. Moreover, as part of the MSP agreement, MultiBank retained the AWS Master Account while delegating administrative access to Zero&One via a centralized Hub account. Access is managed through AWS Control Tower and SCPs, with roles defined in a joint workshop.

Solution Architecture

Results and Benefits

The engagement with Zero&One delivered a fully operational, secure, and optimized AWS infrastructure for Multibank Group, meeting both business and technical expectations. From day one of the cutover, all workloads were running seamlessly in the new environment, with full communication across application, backend, and database layers confirmed and validated. The migration was completed without any disruption to ongoing operations, allowing MBG to maintain service continuity while transitioning to a modern cloud foundation.
Operationally, MBG experienced enhanced visibility and control through centralized dashboards, real-time monitoring with Datadog, and automated alerts driven by machine learning — improving response time to system events and potential threats. Security posture significantly improved with the implementation of AWS-native services like GuardDuty, Shield, WAF, and IAM role-based access, backed by a multi-layered VPC and security group architecture. These capabilities reduced the attack surface and enabled MBG to meet internal audit requirements and regulatory controls.
On the financial side, Optimization practices such as right-sizing, Reserved Instance planning, and cost governance with CloudCheckr provided measurable savings, ensuring that AWS consumption remained efficient and cost-aligned. By the end of the engagement, MBG had not only migrated to the cloud — they had done so with enhanced governance, optimized spending, and the operational agility to support future growth.
