Executive Summary

FeedApp is a technology leader in Iraq, committed to transforming the country’s digital landscape by providing cutting-edge fiber optic internet, broadband, and IPTV services. Beyond connectivity, FeedApp is recognized for its innovative IT project management and operations, serving a wide spectrum of clients, from individuals to large corporations. To support its ambitious vision of making Iraq a leader in digital IT services, FeedApp is seeking to modernize its infrastructure. Zero&One, an AWS Premier Consulting Partner, has proposed migrating FeedApp’s current Cloudways-hosted infrastructure to AWS. This migration will enable FeedApp to operate on a highly available, auto scaling, and self-healing architecture while reducing costs and improving operational efficiency.

Customer Challenge

FeedApp currently relies on a Cloudways-hosted infrastructure that is increasingly unable to meet its growing operational demands. The existing architecture faces scalability and flexibility limitations, particularly as FeedApp seeks to expand its services to a larger audience. Additionally, the absence of advanced automation and distributed architecture hinders FeedApp’s ability to maintain optimal operational performance. High operational costs and the need for enhanced resource management further compound these challenges, making the current setup insufficient to support FeedApp’s strategic goals.

Why Zero&One and AWS

Zero&One, as a trusted AWS Premier Consulting Partner, is uniquely positioned to support FeedApp’s cloud transformation journey. With its deep expertise in AWS technologies, Zero&One can offer a tailored solution that addresses FeedApp’s challenges while unlocking new opportunities for growth and efficiency. By migrating to AWS, FeedApp will benefit from a robust, distributed architecture that ensures scalability and reliability. The AWS cloud will also provide a secure and efficient environment for managing FeedApp’s resources, supported by advanced features such as CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments, cost optimization through serverless technologies, and a comprehensive suite of security tools.

The Solution

Zero&One proposes a comprehensive migration strategy to transition FeedApp’s infrastructure from Cloudways to AWS. The solution begins with establishing an AWS Landing Zone to create a secure, multi-account structure for centralized management and scalability. FeedApp’s infrastructure will be restructured into a distributed architecture, leveraging public and private subnets across multiple Availability Zones in the AWS Middle East (UAE) region to ensure high availability and low latency. Applications will be deployed on Amazon EC2 instances using custom AMIs, with each tier—Front end, API, SMS, Notification, and Logging—configured in Auto Scaling Groups for dynamic scaling and fault tolerance. The Logging service will be upgraded to Grafana Loki on Amazon EKS, while Redis, currently part of the API server, will transition to Amazon ElastiCache for improved session management and availability.

The database layer will migrate from MariaDB to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL. Production environments will feature primary and read replicas for high availability, while staging environments will utilize Aurora Serverless v2 for cost efficiency. Change Data Capture (CDC) will ensure minimal downtime during migration, with continuous replication until the cutover.

FeedApp’s content on Cloudways’ S3 will be migrated to AWS S3, with automated compression, restructuring, and lifecycle policies for efficient storage. CI/CD pipelines will be implemented using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy to automate deployments, ensuring consistent application updates across staging and production environments.

Security measures include AWS Config, GuardDuty, CloudTrail, and IAM policies with Multi-Factor Authentication. AWS WAF will protect against threats such as SQL injection and cross-site scripting, while VPC Flow Logs will provide network visibility. Cost optimization will be achieved through Savings Plans in production and event-driven resources in staging, such as Aurora Serverless and Lambda-based compute switching.

The architecture emphasizes high availability, scalability, and operational resilience, with Application Load Balancers (ALBs) managing secure traffic distribution. Zero&One will demonstrate the infrastructure's self-healing capabilities, ensuring service continuity and operational efficiency. This solution provides FeedApp with a future-proof, secure, and scalable cloud environment tailored to support its growth and operational goals.

Results and Benefits

The migration to AWS will enable FeedApp to address its current challenges and achieve significant operational and strategic benefits. The new architecture will provide the scalability needed to support FeedApp’s growing user base, with the capability to handle over 100,000 users seamlessly. Cost savings will be realized through AWS Savings Plans and serverless technologies, significantly reducing operational expenses. Enhanced performance will be achieved through the self-healing, highly available setup, ensuring minimal downtime and consistent service delivery. The integration of CI/CD pipelines will streamline application updates, reducing the time and effort required for deployments. Moreover, advanced security tools will safeguard FeedApp’s infrastructure, protecting it from cyber threats and ensuring compliance with best practices.
